5 Little Ways I Reset When I’m Feeling Off
Holidays can be hectic and stressful, and for me that’s exactly when some of my bad habits sneak in. I notice right away when I start to feel sluggish. I know it’s my body and mind’s way of reminding me that I need a reset. A reset for me is always about little ways to start feeling my best. Here are 5 little ways I reset when I’m feeling off.
This post is sponsored by BioGaia, but as always all opinions are my own.
I don’t share as often about health, but it’s a topic I’m passionate about sometimes more than beauty and style. When I say health, I mean both mind and body. When I feel out of sync with myself and or mentally exhausted, it also reflects in my body. Both inside and out, so these little resets do wonders for my overall being, inside and out.
Moving My Body
As soon as I was cleared to exercise by my doctor post baby, taking walks has been a daily priority for me. Sometimes I make it an errand and stop at a grocery store, sometimes I call a friend, but moving and walking about does wonders for my mood.
Lately, I’m so proud to say that I have started to wake up earlier and carve out 30 minutes for exercise. ( If you would have asked me 6 months ago if I thought this was possible you would have heard a resounding “NO way”) This has been a total game changer for my day. It’s only 30 minutes, but the effects last all day. First, I feel like I already accomplished something, even if I do nothing else and I also feel like I did something just for myself, which can be challenging when you have a whole household depending on you.
Carving out time for myself and moving my body is my number one way to reset my mood and when my balance is off.
Drinking More
I wish this meant alcohol, but it doesn’t. Unfortunately, I will always be a person who needs a little reminder to drink water. Having a Hydroflask filled near me at all times helps me remember. More recently I’ve been into these iridescent mugs, simply because they’re pretty.
I also realized that drinking filtered room temperature water is better for my bladder ( two kids later), instead of adding ice. A friend of mine also recommended this water bottle to help encourage more water.
Why am I obsessed with drinking as much water as possible? Because I see it on my skin. It’s dull and greyish when I’m dehydrated and much more vibrant when I drink plenty of fluids and at almost 40 that’s a major win and a simple beauty solution.
Taking a Probiotic
Probiotics have always played a part in my wellness regimen. It’s one of the first things I reach for when I start to feel off. There are countless probiotic options out of there, and I like BioGaia because it has over 200 clinical trials listed on their website. In fact, BioGaia’s probiotic products with L.reuteri are among the most scientifically well-documented probiotics in the world regarding efficacy and safety.

BioGaia also believes that different probiotics should be used for specific health benefits as each has as distinct probiotic strains. BioGaia probiotics contain exclusive and beneficial Lactobacillus reuteri strains and their probiotics go beyond gut health.
I’ve been taking their adult immune active capsules which also contain 2,000 IU of Vitamin D. This probiotic promotes immune, digestive and overall health.
What are the benefits of taking a BioGaia probiotic everyday? When I take probiotics consistently, I feel my best and notice it in everything else from my gut to my skin.
Eating Clean
I’m an emotional eater, and when I get the blues, I crave carbs and sweets. However, after a few days of over indulging I start to feel it, and see it. So, I reset with eliminating snacks in the evening, eating clean and lean meals and fasting. (Check out this detailed post for more on my fasting and eating habits.)
Something new that I’ve been doing this month is doing a half a day cleanse on a Monday. This means I skip breakfast and lunch and instead drink lots of water, green juice and coffee. I eat a sensible dinner, have a little piece of chocolate and by Tuesday I truly feel brand new. It’s something that I plan on continuing. Something about Monday being my reset day really resonates with me. And after an indulgent weekend, it feels rewarding to do something good for my body.
Getting More Sleep
With two little ones it can be hard to get a good night’s rest, but I found that it’s absolutely crucial for me to get enough sleep. Not only enough sleep, but good quality sleep. I’ve put together a post on how I’ve set up our bedroom to get the most restful sleep, and these tips have worked well. However, the most important point in getting enough sleep is going to bed early. Sometimes that late tv watching is all you want to do after a stressful day, but I find that if I stay up late I end up snacking and feeling tired in the morning. So going to sleep early is a win/win. No late night snacking and more hours of sleep. This has also helped me feel rested enough to exercise in the morning.
Hope you find these 5 little ways I reset when I’m feeling off helpful, and try to implement some of these into your daily routine. The hardest part is just starting, once you begin it’s amazing how other little things fall into place.
