What Alcohol Goes Best with Hot Chocolate?
Want to spike your hot chocolate? Great idea, because lots of liquor goes well with chocolate, even wine! Yes. You can add wine to your hot chocolate or brandy!
However, I prefer spiced rum, whiskey or bourbon. You can also try vodka, or even flavored vodka.
For a less boozy hot chocolate you can add Baileys Irish Cream, Amaretto or Kahlua. These are liquors that have less alcohol content, but lots of flavor.
Best liquor to add to your spiked hot chocolate.
Here are a few favorites for your consideration. These would be great to display next to your boozy hot chocolate dessert board and allow your guests to add their own favorites.
- Aged or dark rum—adds a little bit of spice and vanilla flavors to your hot chocolate.
- Bourbon—comforting and perfectly boozy with a hint of vanilla.
- Creme de menthe or peppermint schnapps—a perfect option if you love mint flavored hot chocolate. This gives you that holiday spiked hot chocolate spirit.
- Bailey —less boozy, but lots of flavor. Like adding a delicious creamer to your hot chocolate. Creamy, bright, almost fruity, and sweet. Go to Baileys Hot Chocolate.
- Kahlua—smooth, less boozy and deliciously chocolate.
