How to Make a Pear Vodka Cosmopolitan
A delicious twist on the original, this pear vodka cosmopolitan substitutes pear juice for cranberry for a tasty, tangy and sweet vodka cocktail.
Why You’ll Love Making Cocktails with Pear Juice
Because of Sex and the City the cosmo will always be a classic, right? The traditional cosmopolitan uses cranberry juice, but the cranberry gets enough attention during the Christmas season, so we switch it up and celebrate another winter fruit. The pear.
In my opinion, January is the season of the pear and since I’m a seasonal drinker and eater, it felt only right to create a pear martini recipe.
To make the pear vodka cosmopolitan we skip the traditional cranberry juice and instead use the mellow sweet flavor of crisp pears.
The mild citrus flavor and sweet taste of pears make it the perfect fruit for pairing.
Ingredients Needed for this Pear Cocktail
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1/2 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec
- 1 ounce pear juice
- a thin slice of pear for garnish
How to Make the Pear Vodka Cosmo
To start, fill the martini glass with ice and water. ( Currently, I’m loving using this Speakeasy Coupe as my martini glass).
Leave the glass filled with water and ice while making the cocktail. Toss the water and ice once you’re ready to pour your drink.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour vodka, Cointreau or triple sec, and pear juice into the shaker.
Close the shaker. Then shake vigorously, until the shaker feels cold to the touch.
Do you know what makes a bartender’s cocktail taste better than your cocktail? Usually it’s in the shake.
You don’t have to do flair like Tom Cruise in Cocktails, but when making a martini cocktail you definitely need to fill the entire tin with ice and shake vigorously until the shaker ices over.
Once it’s almost unbearable to the touch, your pear vodka martini is ready to be poured.
Strain the mixture into a chilled martini coup or glass.
Garnish with a sliver of pear. Enjoy!

Additional Notes & Tips for this Pear Vodka Cosmopolitan Cocktail
Which Vodka Should You Use for Pear Vodka Cosmopolitan?
For this recipe I chose Beluga vodka without additional flavoring. However, as pear is the perfect pairing fruit, almost any flavored vodka would work for this pear martini recipe.
Even pear vodka such as Absolut Pears or Grey Goose La Poire ( pear flavored) vodka would make this winter cosmopolitan taste wonderful.
Another complimentary flavor to try would be a vanilla vodka for a spicy version of the pear vodka cosmopolitan or a citrus vodka to bring out the natural citrus flavors in the pear juice.
When it comes to cocktails, it’s fun to experiment. Vodka and pear work well together, so any vodka you choose will likely make for a delicious cocktail.
