Night Time Beauty Routine Update
A few months ago, I won an Instagram contest. Yes, people really do win those things! From this contest I received a ton of beauty products, and it helped me to finally become the kind of lady that has a night time beauty routine. Over the last few weeks I have really learned a lot about skin care. Before, if you would have told me that I would be layering oil on my face to get rid of breakouts or using up to six various products at night time, I would have told you, “you’re crazy.” But here we are, and with amazing results. Read on.
Even though I received a bunch of new products and wanted to try them all on immediately, it was important to add only one product at a time to my beauty routine. This allows you to see how your skin reacts to the new addition. So, if you’re inspired to try a new product from this post, I would encourage you to go slowly.
Lesson One
Though I wrote about my skin care rituals before, one thing that I have never felt the need to add was a toner. Pixi® Skintreats Glow Tonic changed this. It’s an exfoliating toner that you put on after washing your face, and you can use it morning and night. I prefer to only use it once a day, in the evening.
For as long as I remember my skin, I always had a tiny little bumps on my forehead. They became something that I just lived with. They generally were just bumps, flesh colored and tiny so I did’t mind them as much as a big break out or a red bump. After using the Pixi® Skintreats Glow Tonic these bumps disappeared.
If you buy nothing else from my recommendations, buy this $15 tonic, they sell it at Target!
Lesson Two
I actually purchased this product after a recommendation of a beauty blogger. I was looking for a rose hip seed oil, because I read about its anti-aging properties, and finally came across one that had great reviews and was super reasonable, just under $10!
I love using The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. I don’t use it daily, but I do use it once or twice a week at night.
I found that my skin feels very moisturized and plump the next morning, but also I am convinced it prevents breakouts. When I see something coming up, I make sure to use the oil that night, and by morning everything is gone.
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil is $9, and I’ve seen it sold on Amazon but with sketchy reviews. I recommend ordering right from the site. Sephora also has it, but it has been sold out. A similar product would be MARIO BADESCU Rose Hip Nourishing Oil.
Lesson Three
I have always thought that when I use any product I would see results right away. But, I also think this may not be the case with every thing. When we put on sun screen, we don’t expect to see results of sun prevention. We just know that we are doing something good for our future self in protecting the skin we are in now.
So, with this Sunday Riley duo, I can’t tell you that I am seeing instant result. However, over time, I really believe that it is helping even out my skin tone, gives me a glow and it’s working to prevent aging.
I like this dual packaging because you get to try Good Genes and Luna Sleeping Night Oil without having to invest into both. Applying the Luna Sleeping Night Oil has been super therapeutic, and I do it only on Sundays as a ritual. So worth the big bucks.
Lesson Four
I’m on my second bottle of Philosophy’s Ultimate Miracle Worker Fix Eye Power-Treatment. The first was gifted to me. I just love the consistency of that product.
In general, I’m a big fan of Philosophy brand, and I still use their Microdelivery Exfolating Face Wash every night.
I’m also using Kieh’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, it has great reviews, but it’s not my favorite. However, the biggest lesson I can share is to have several products in rotation, so your skin doesn’t get too used to the ingredients of the same product.
I also use two night creams. Clinique’s Smart Moisturizer and Glossier Priming Moisturizing Rich. I like Clinique’s cream, but I am obsessed with the Glossier and will likely buy it again.
